Bee farmers trained to generate business ideas

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism through the Integrated Human Resources Development Programme (IHRDP), under the MSME Fiji, conducted a 3-day business training for bee farmers in Nausori.
In closing the ‘Generate Your Business Idea’ training, Director IHRDP, Iosefo Koroidimuri said the training was of great value for the members of the Central Bee Farmers Group and encouraged stronger collaboration in order to prosper the business.
“I encourage you to engage more with your stakeholders, as this is a crucial component of doing business. This is how you learn and share ideas,” said Mr Koroidimuri.
He added that to ensure participants continued with their business venture, the Fijian Government will continue providing business advisory, mentoring and various training exercises.
Taina Guivalu, a member of the Central Bee Farmers Group was appreciative of the training as it enlightened her on how to capitalise on her passion and talents to generate income for their family.
“I am really happy to be part of this training, as it has broadened my knowledge on how I can improve and generate more income from my bee farming,” said Mrs Guivalu.
Thirteen bee farmers from Nausori participated in the 3-day business training, which was tailored to help develop their practical business ideas.
Key stakeholders that contributed towards the project were the Office of the Commissioner Central, Central Beekeepers Association, Tailevu Provincial Council Office, Ministry of Agriculture and AWQAF Fiji.
